Here at MyHealthMath, we love our team. Each month, we select a team member to share with the world, so that you can get to know us from the inside out. This month’s team member is Amy LoTemplio.

What inspired you to work at MyHealthMath?

As someone who is interested in becoming a medical professional, I first wanted to gain a deeper understanding of the problems patients in the United States face when navigating the healthcare system. Specifically, I was interested in looking at this through the lens of health insurance, while collaborating with a team that was working to solve these problems. When I learned about MyHealthMath, I saw this team’s mission of helping to bring clarity to employees who are selecting their health insurance plans, and I wanted to contribute. As I learned more about MyHealthMath, I was further drawn in by their values of trustworthiness, objectivity, innovation, hard work and efficiency. After meeting the employees and members of the leadership team at MyHealthMath, I was positive that I would be very lucky to work with such genuine people towards a goal that I was passionate about.

Amy LoTemplio, Healthcare Consumer Partner

What type of work do you do day to day at MyHealthMath? How has working here furthered your professional and personal goals?

I am a Health Care Consumer Partner at MyHealthMath. In this role, I am constantly learning new skills and working on different type of projects, but one of my main responsibilities is speaking with employees over the phone regarding their anticipated medical usage in the upcoming plan year. At MyHealthMath, we use this information to identify which health plan will give them the best value for the money they spend.

I also provide quality checks on the savings estimates that MyHealthMath sends employees, and I help prepare data from health insurance plans so that it may be entered into our software system. Together, this work directly connects with my goal to be a physician because I am now extremely familiar with a variety of health insurance plans, and, perhaps most importantly, I have a better understanding of how different policies will impact patients’ ability to pay for their needed healthcare. This will be helpful in my role as a physician as I will have a better understanding of the relationship between finances and patient behavior. Many employees that I speak with are reluctant to seek healthcare because of their fears relating to unintended healthcare costs. Having the capacity to help patients navigate their health insurance will allow me to help patients understand what they can and cannot afford, empowering them to make better decisions for themselves.rk with such genuine people towards a goal that I was passionate about.

Describe a rewarding project that you have worked on during your time at MyHealthMath.

One of my favorite parts of my job is helping the employees I talk with feel less confused when selecting their health plan. Many people that I speak with feel stressed about their health plan selection, as they sometimes have expensive prescriptions, surgeries, or plans to have a child in the upcoming year. After we talk, employees are relieved to know that MyHealthMath can help them make the best possible decision that they can for themselves and their families.

What goals do you have for the future of MyHealthMath?

I think that MyHealthMath is heading in a great direction! I am especially excited to move to a portal experience where employees can access everything they need in one place – whether that’s scheduling a call with an analyst, accessing our online intake tool, or comparing their savings estimates. This should be rolling out next year!

What is your favorite thing about working with the MyHealthMath Team?

I love MyHealthMath’s culture. I trust that every single member of the MyHealthMath team is working in the best interest of our clients while keeping honesty and hard work at the forefront of our process. Since I am on the operations team, I have the pleasure of attending morning “huddles” with the rest of operations. During this time, we first do a meditation, and then we set our priorities for the day. This allows us to be highly intentional about our daily work and to bond as a team. I know that I am fully supported by my teammates, and this motivates me to be a productive member of the team as well. Having a great place to work is even more important during the current COVID-19 pandemic, and I feel very lucky that I have a consistently positive group of people to spend the greater portion of my days with.

What are some of your favorite hobbies outside of work?

Outside of work, I really enjoy outdoor activities of all kinds. I like to run, hike, bike and ski. I also enjoy yoga, reading, and spending time with my family and friends (virtually now-a-days).
