Here at MyHealthMath, we love our team. Each month, we select a team member to share with our network, so that you can get to know us from the inside out. This month’s team member is Desiree Laudeman.
What inspired you to work at MyHealthMath?
I started working in the healthcare industry after I graduated from college. Immediately before working at MyHealthMath, I was working in a doctor’s office, where I was exposed to the daily frustrations that patients and medical professionals must endure while navigating the health insurance landscape. I was hoping to do something to become part of the solution to this problem. Since MyHealthMath is a company that is working on resolving issues related to health insurance for the benefit of employees and employers, I realized working here could be an excellent fit.
What’s your day-to-day like at MyHealthMath? How has working here furthered your professional and personal goals?
Desiree Laudeman, Business Analyst
For me, each day at MyHealthMath is very different. This is because I wear many hats, and I am working on a variety of projects. My activities can range from talking to employees over the phone to working with the tech team to improve our products. In my current role, I can be creative, and this is something that I value about my job. I have also been able to grow professionally by taking on new projects and responsibilities as the company grows. More specifically, I am taking on a new position as Business Analyst which is an exciting opportunity for me. This allows me to have a more specialized career path. All the work I have done at MyHealthMath paved the way for this new opportunity and I am forever grateful for that.
Describe a rewarding project that you have worked on during your time at MyHealthMath.
Working on OnlinePlus (OLP), our online platform, has been very exciting because it is a product that I would want as a consumer. OLP makes our services more accessible to employees who would find it challenging to schedule a phone call with us because of their very busy schedules. I have enjoyed being able to play a big role in the development of this product, and I believe it will allow MyHealthMath to blossom.
What goals do you have for the future of MyHealthMath?
I hope that MHM can continue to reach more employees through our different products. Those who have used our products have been very pleased, so it is just a matter of getting our name out there to those who would benefit from our services. Furthermore, MyHealthMath is constantly refining our products, and internal workflows, and I hope that this growth continues. I am excited to see where the company will be in a few years.
What is your favorite thing about working with the MyHealthMath Team?
Collaboration within the MyHealthMath team is practically seamless. We come together and solve problems with an efficiency that is second to none. I never doubt that we can tackle any issue and come up with a solution. Additionally, I feel like I can be vulnerable at team meetings, and I know that my voice is heard. My co-workers are compassionate, and they care about the work that they are doing. Everyone is passionate about doing a good job for the sake of increasing access to affordable healthcare.
What are some of your favorite hobbies outside of work?
I have been going old school with hobbies due to the pandemic. I enjoy playing board games and being outdoors in general. I also like to spend time with family and watch my nephew grow.
